Press Release: Winners of the 2021 - Walks & Rocks Scavenger Hunt

The Yukon Chamber of Mines Celebrates the Winners of the 2021 - Walks & Rocks Scavenger Hunt held during Yukon Mining & Geology Week May 31st to June 4th 2021

Whitehorse, Yukon

The Yukon Chamber of Mines (YCM) would like to celebrate the 2021 - Walks & Rocks Scavenger Hunt Winners in partnership with Yukon’s Women in Mining (YWIM) and the Yukon Geological Survey (YGS).

• 1st Prize for Prospector of the Year with the most discoveries of iconic and historical sites throughout Yukon, went to Gina Anderson who was awarded a $500 gift certificate to Angelina’s Toy Boutique and;

• 1st Prize Geologist of the Year - Best Yukon Rock Sample & Field Photo including Grey Mountain Cave and mineral collection at the Yukon Visitor Center, goes to Amber and Inara Church who were awarded a $500 gift certificate to Triniti Technology

“We extend our congratulations to the Yukon Rocks & Walks Scavenger Hunt winners and thank everyone who participated and came together to make this fun, engaging activity possible,” says YukonWIM President and Founder Anne Turner. “We are committed to helping Yukoners better understand how a responsible mining industry positivity contributes to the territory and how YukonWIM promotes diversity and inclusion within all aspects of the industry from prospecting and exploration through to our operating mines and reclamation.”
The $100 prizes, along with the Yukon Gold Nugget will be awarded at the end of Discovery Day.
Yukon’s mineral industry continues to contribute to the global economy and, as we celebrate the 125th anniversary of the discovery of gold in the Klondike we appreciate the contribution mining has made to our everyday.
